August Newsletter

Dear Friends of SALT,

August has allowed us to catch our breath, finish strongly with a number of our member clubs and focus our attention on some key developments.

• We’ve had further planning meetings with Maroondah Council regarding the opportunity to be co-tenants at the H.E Parker Reserve

• EMPHN, a federal government initiative, approached SALT to discuss the possibility of
supporting specific aspects of our work that are targeted towards Suicide Prevention

• It was confirmed that the Federal funding we were hoping to secure through Greg Hunt – Minister for Sport and Minister for Health can’t be accessed until we become a National organisation

• Grand Final Breakfast – Box Hill Central Rotary Club are hosting its Annual Grand Final Breakfast on Wednesday 27th September at the Box Hill Golf Club. Guest speakers will be our very own Jeff Gieschen and Carissa Rash. Cost of the breakfast is $50 and SALT will be filling some tables so we would love to have you join us

• Melbourne Football Club – We’ve started delivering sessions for the Melbourne Football Club Next Generation Academy Program and our program has been well received

• Western Bulldogs Football Club – In September we begin presenting at the AFL Victoria
V/Line Cup in Gippsland, on behalf of the Western Bulldogs

• North Melbourne Football Club – We met with the North Melbourne Football Club to
discuss delivering their Next Generation Academy Program in 2018

• At our most recent breakfast Anthony McIntosh, the CEO of Little Athletics Victoria spoke. It was terrific to hear of the work he is doing in his new role there

• Dave delivered a leadership presentation with Michael Sukkar to student leaders from many of the local schools in the Deakin area

• We have had a number of speaking engagements at business breakfasts and Rotary Club functions and are enjoying and happily accepting these opportunities

• We met with the Bendigo Bank cluster leaders in the hope they will become our major
corporate partner
